Frase pricing per seat, site and audited page, plus what Legacy subscribers pay after migrating
Frase pricing starts at $49 a month for one seat and one site on Starter, or $39 a month billed yearly. Professional is $129 for three seats and five sites, Scale is $299 for five seats and ten domains, and every extra seat is $29. The cheapest seat for a team is Professional with added seats, not Scale, until you pass five sites.
We read frase.io/pricing and Frase's Legacy Migration Guide from a United States connection on 26 September 2026, and compared both with the pricing page Frase published a year earlier. We also sell an on-page SEO tool, so weigh our conclusions with that in mind; where Frase is the better buy, we say so.
If the reason you are pricing Frase is a backlog of existing pages that need fixing rather than new articles, try that step on one URL first. It takes about a minute and needs no account.
Frase pricing by plan in 2026
Frase sells three self-serve plans and an Enterprise tier. Each one includes the same features, so the plans differ by volume: how many people, sites, articles and audited pages you get in a month. Yearly billing takes 20% off every tier.
- Starter: $49 month to month, $39 yearly. One seat, one site, 10 articles and 50 audit pages a month. Content Guard watches 10 pages. When you hit a limit, the plan holds there until the cycle resets; there is no overage bill.
- Professional: $129, or $103 yearly. Three seats and five sites, extra seats at $29. 40 articles and 250 audit pages. Adds a content calendar, internal linking suggestions and Perplexity in AI Visibility.
- Scale: $299, or $239 yearly. Five seats and up to ten domains, extra seats at $29. 100 articles and 1,000 audit pages. Adds client-ready reports and Claude and Gemini in AI Visibility.
- Enterprise: custom pricing. The only tier with white-label reports and a branded client portal, plus SSO and an SLA.
Two costs sit outside the plan price. Optional pay-as-you-go on Professional is $5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page and $0.25 per AI prompt, dropping to $4, $0.40 and $0.20 on Scale. And FraseCMS, the hosted blog, is free up to 100,000 page views, then $19 a month for your own domain or $99 for a million views. Both are off unless you turn them on.
What Frase costs per seat, for six real team shapes
The sticker prices hide the real decision, which is how seats and sites combine. Starter covers a single site, so the second site forces the jump to Professional even for one person. After that, adding $29 seats to Professional is cheaper than moving to Scale until you need more than five sites.
| Team | Cheapest Frase setup | Per seat | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person, 1 site | Starter, $49 ($39 yearly) | $49 | Starter is the only fit and the cheapest seat Frase sells |
| 1 person, 3 sites | Professional, $129 ($103 yearly) | $129 | Starter covers a single site, so a second site forces the jump |
| 3 people, 5 sites | Professional, $129 ($103 yearly) | $43 | The best per-seat price on the ladder |
| 5 people, 5 sites | Professional $129 + 2 seats at $29 = $187 | $37.40 | Cheaper than Scale by $112 a month if 40 articles is enough |
| 5 people, 10 sites | Scale, $299 ($239 yearly) | $59.80 | Scale is the only plan past 5 sites below Enterprise |
| 10 people, 10 sites | Scale $299 + 5 seats at $29 = $444 | $44.40 | Seats now cost more than half as much as the plan |
The five-person, five-site row is the one most teams get wrong. Scale looks like the natural tier for five people because it includes five seats, but Professional with two extra seats covers the same people and sites for $187, which is $112 a month less. You give up 60 articles, 750 audit pages, client-ready reports and two AI engines. If you were not going to use those, Professional is the correct purchase.
Seats are also where a team plan can quietly outgrow its purpose. Three seats sounds right for a writer, an editor and an SEO lead, but if the writer role is still an open position, you are paying for a login nobody uses. Some teams fill that gap by posting the role on a marketing jobs board where SEO content writers look for work before adding a seat, so the $29 goes on a person who is already hired.
Frase Legacy pricing vs the new plans
Frase has changed its ladder twice. Many reviews still quote Solo, Basic and Team at $15, $45 and $115. By late 2025 the plans were called Starter at $45 and Professional at $115. The 2026 ladder keeps those two names but changes almost everything inside them.
| Plan name | September 2025 | September 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $45 a month, 1 user, 15 content projects, 2 Rank-Ready documents | $49 a month, 1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles, 50 audit pages |
| Professional | $115 a month, 3 users, $25 per extra user up to 9, 75 content projects, SEO Analytics for unlimited domains | $129 a month, 3 seats, 5 sites, $29 per extra seat, 40 articles, 250 audit pages |
| Scale | Did not exist | $299 a month, 5 seats, 10 domains, 100 articles, 1,000 audit pages |
The price rises are small: $4 on Starter and $14 on Professional. The limits are the bigger change. Old Professional gave three users and SEO Analytics across unlimited domains; new Professional caps you at five sites, and an agency with eight client sites now needs Scale at $299. The extra-user price also went from $25 to $29.
What Legacy subscribers pay after migrating
Frase's Legacy Migration Guide answers the price question directly: when you migrate, an eligible subscription "will remain at the same price as it was in Legacy Frase". Migration is optional, and there is no deadline "at this time". Three details in the same guide are worth reading before you click through:
- Limits are sized differently. Frase says Starter "is built for solo users and covers a single site". If you run more than one site or have teammates on Legacy, check the new plan limits first.
- Credits reset on your billing date, not on the 1st of the month. On a yearly plan they reset every 30 days from the day you migrate.
- Deprecated plans cannot migrate. Older plans that are no longer sold are invited to a 7-day trial instead, which means buying a current plan at the current price.
That last point is the real cost for long-time customers. If you are on an old Solo or Basic plan, you are not keeping your price; you are choosing between $49 Starter, $129 Professional, or another tool. For a full list of the alternatives with prices from each vendor's own page, see our Frase alternatives comparison.
Frase price per audited page
If you mostly use Frase to audit and fix existing pages, divide by audit pages rather than seats. Starter is $0.98 a page if you use all 50. Professional is about $0.52 a page at 250, and $0.50 per page past that with pay-as-you-go on. Scale is about $0.30 a page at 1,000. The catch is that the plan price also pays for articles, so those per-page figures only hold if you use both.
That is the case where a separate tool can cost less. SEOMake audits a live URL against its keyword and writes the corrected title, meta description, heading outline and opening paragraph, with a 400 to 700 word draft on paid plans. Page audits are unlimited on every plan: Starter is $49 a month with 20 drafts, Growth $149 with 100, Agency $499 with 500. It does not research topics, write full articles, publish to a CMS or track AI citations, so it replaces Frase's audit half only. Plans are on our pricing page, and the SEO audit tool page shows a full example of the output.
Which Frase plan to buy
Buy Starter at $39 yearly if you are one person writing for one site, under 10 articles a month. Buy Professional if you have a second site or a second person, and add $29 seats rather than jumping tiers. Buy Scale only when you pass five sites or need client-ready reports. If what you really need is white-label reporting, that is Enterprise, and it is worth pricing an agency tool against it. And if Surfer is the other name on your list, our Surfer pricing breakdown uses the same per-seat method.
Frase pricing questions buyers ask
How much does Frase cost?
Frase costs $49 a month on Starter, $129 on Professional and $299 on Scale when billed month to month. Paying yearly takes 20% off, bringing them to $39, $103 and $239 a month. Enterprise is priced by sales. Extra seats are $29 a month each on Professional and Scale.
How much is Frase per user?
It depends on the plan and headcount. Starter is one seat for $49. Professional includes three seats, about $43 each, and every extra seat is $29. Scale includes five, about $59.80 each, plus $29 per extra. A five-person team on five sites pays least on Professional with two added seats: $187 a month.
Does Frase have a free plan?
No. Frase has no free plan; it offers a 7-day trial with no credit card, capped at 5 articles, 50 audit pages, 25 AI prompts and 3 seats. The only free tier on the pricing page is FraseCMS hosting up to 100,000 page views, which comes with a paid plan.
What happens to my price when I migrate from Legacy Frase?
If your plan is eligible, the price stays the same, according to Frase's Legacy Migration Guide. Limits change shape, though, and credits reset on your billing date instead of the 1st. Older deprecated plans are not eligible to migrate and are offered a 7-day trial on the new app instead.
Is Frase Professional worth it over Starter?
Yes, if you have a second site or a second person, because Starter allows neither. Professional adds two seats, four sites, 30 more articles and 200 more audit pages for $80 more a month. If you are one person on one site writing under 10 articles a month, Starter is enough.
What does Frase charge for going over the limit?
Starter does not charge overages; it stops at the monthly limit. On Professional, optional pay-as-you-go is $5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page and $0.25 per AI prompt. On Scale it is $4, $0.40 and $0.20. Pay-as-you-go is off by default and bills at the end of the cycle.
Frase plans, limits, overage rates and FraseCMS prices were read from frase.io/pricing on 26 September 2026, requested from a United States connection, and the migration terms from docs.frase.io/legacy-migration-guide on the same day. The 2025 plans come from the archived frase.io/pricing of 27 September 2025. Per-seat figures divide the month-to-month plan price, plus added seats, by headcount. Vendor prices change without notice, so trust the checkout over this page.
