Surfer SEO pricing per month for Discovery, Standard, Pro and Peace of Mind, and which plan has the Audit tool

Surfer SEO costs $59 a month for Discovery, $119 for Standard, $219 for Pro and $359 for Peace of Mind when billed monthly. Billed yearly, the same plans work out at $49, $99, $182 and $299 a month, about 17 percent less. Per seat, Peace of Mind is the cheapest and Discovery the dearest. The one-page Audit tool starts on Pro.

Every figure here was read from Surfer's own pricing page and its pricing FAQ on 21 September 2026, and the prices were re-read from a United States connection in September 2026, so they are the US dollar list prices an American buyer sees. We sell an on-page SEO tool too, which is worth knowing when you read our conclusions.

If the reason you are pricing Surfer is a set of existing pages that need fixing, the faster test is to run one of them through an audit that writes the fix, before you pick a plan.

Surfer SEO pricing per month, every plan

This is the current ladder. The yearly total is what you pay up front on annual billing, and the saving is Surfer's own figure from the pricing page.

Surfer SEO plans with monthly billing price, yearly billing price per month, yearly total, annual saving and team seats
Plan Billed monthly Billed yearly, per month Yearly total Saved a year Seats
Discovery $59 $49 $588 $120 1
Standard $119 $99 $1,188 $240 3
Pro $219 $182 $2,184 $444 5
Peace of Mind $359 $299 $3,588 $720 10
AI Search Analytics $95 $82 $984 $156 n/a

Enterprise starts at $999 a month on a custom package. AI Search Analytics is a separate plan for tracking how AI assistants mention your brand, without the content tools.

One warning before you trust anything else you read. Many of the pricing articles ranking for this query still describe an Essential plan at $99, or $79 billed yearly, and a Scale plan at $219. The word Essential does not appear anywhere on Surfer's current pricing page. If a comparison you are reading is built on Essential and Scale, it is describing plans you cannot buy today.

What each tier adds

Discovery is one seat, 120 documents and 10 tracked pages, with the AI writing assistant, content scoring and Content Audit. It has no keyword research and no one-page Audit.

Standard triples the seats to three, raises documents to 360 and tracked pages to 50, and adds keyword research and AI visibility tracking across 25 prompts in ChatGPT, refreshed weekly.

Pro keeps 360 documents but adds five seats, 200 tracked pages, 50 AI prompts across several models refreshed daily, Topical Map, the cannibalization report, data export, the MCP connection and the one-page Audit tool. For most teams this is the tier where Surfer stops being a writing tool and becomes an SEO tool.

Peace of Mind goes to ten seats, 500 tracked pages, 100 AI prompts and unlimited documents under a fair use policy, and it is the only self-serve plan with API access and the SERP Analyzer.

What a seat actually costs

Surfer prices plans, not seats, so the per-seat figure moves in a direction people do not expect. The small plans are the expensive ones per person.

Surfer SEO cost per seat per month on each plan, billed monthly and billed yearly
Plan Seats Per seat, billed monthly Per seat, billed yearly
Discovery 1 $59.00 $49.00
Standard 3 about $39.67 $33.00
Pro 5 $43.80 $36.40
Peace of Mind 10 $35.90 $29.90

Standard at three seats is cheaper per person than Pro at five, which is unusual. Pro costs more per seat because it is selling Audit, Topical Map and the extra AI prompts, not headcount. A team of four has an awkward choice: Standard leaves one person out, and Pro pays for a fifth seat nobody uses. If several people on the team expense their own software, running those charges through expense management software that categorizes every receipt is the quickest way to spot duplicate subscriptions before the renewal.

Monthly or yearly billing

Yearly saves $120 on Discovery, $240 on Standard, $444 on Pro and $720 on Peace of Mind. The trade is flexibility. Surfer's pricing FAQ says upgrades are prorated and take effect at once, but downgrades wait for the next billing date, which on a yearly plan can be eleven months away. Unused limits do not roll over on either cycle.

A sensible order is to take the 7-day Pro trial Surfer offers new accounts, run a month on monthly billing at the tier you think you need, and switch to yearly only once your document and seat use has settled. The 17 percent is worth having, but not on a plan you might outgrow or abandon.

Where the one-page Audit fits into the price

Surfer has two audit tools. Content Audit, on every plan from Discovery, reads your Search Console data and ranks your pages by how much attention they need. Audit, the one-page tool that benchmarks a live URL against competitors, is only on Pro and above. So the price of Audit is the Standard to Pro step: $100 a month billed monthly, or $83 billed yearly.

That step is worth it if you also want Topical Map, the cannibalization report and five seats. If the only reason is fixing pages Content Audit has flagged, price the job instead. The audit tells you what is wrong with each page. Somebody still writes the new title, meta description and headings. We lay out the two Surfer tools and five alternatives, with prices, on our Surfer SEO Audit alternative page.

Which plan to buy

A solo writer producing new articles is well served by Discovery or Standard; the extra seats on Standard are the main reason to pay more. A content team of three to five that also looks after existing pages should look hard at Pro, because Audit and the cannibalization report are aimed at exactly that work. An agency with ten people or an API integration in mind is a Peace of Mind customer, and at that size it is the cheapest per seat.

If you are weighing Surfer against a writing grader priced per team rather than per seat, the numbers in our Clearscope vs Semrush pricing breakdown are a useful benchmark: Clearscope charges $129 with unlimited users.

Where SEOMake fits

SEOMake does one job from that list: it corrects a page that already exists. Paste a live URL and the keyword it should rank for. It scores the page, lists the issues with the evidence for each, and writes the fix: a title under 60 characters with the keyword first, a meta description at the length Google shows, a heading outline built around the query and an opening paragraph. Paid plans add a 400 to 700 word draft. It works from the URL, so there is no Search Console to connect, and there is no meter on audits.

It is not a Surfer replacement. It does not benchmark against competitors, score NLP terms or track AI visibility. Starter is $49 a month, or $490 a year, and every plan is on our pricing page. For a wider comparison of the whole suite, see our Surfer SEO alternative page.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Surfer SEO per month?

On Surfer's pricing page on 21 September 2026, Discovery was $59 a month billed monthly or $49 billed yearly, Standard $119 or $99, Pro $219 or $182, and Peace of Mind $359 or $299. Enterprise started at $999. Those are the US dollar prices the page shows a United States connection, re-read in September 2026.

What are the Surfer SEO pricing plans?

Four self-serve plans: Discovery, Standard, Pro and Peace of Mind, plus Enterprise on a custom quote and a standalone AI Search Analytics plan for tracking brand mentions in AI answers. The Essential and Scale plans that many pricing articles still list do not appear on Surfer's current pricing page.

Is Surfer SEO cheaper if you pay yearly?

Yes. Surfer's pricing FAQ says the annual plan saves up to 17 percent. On Pro that is $182 a month instead of $219, or $444 a year saved, and on Peace of Mind it is $720 a year. Yearly means paying the full year up front, and unused monthly limits still do not roll over.

What is the Surfer SEO API pricing?

API access is only on the Peace of Mind plan in Surfer's pricing table: $359 a month billed monthly or $299 billed yearly, plus Enterprise. Discovery, Standard and Pro are marked as not including the API, although Pro includes the MCP connection. There is no separate API add-on on the pricing page.

Which Surfer plan includes the Audit tool?

The one-page Audit is on Pro, Peace of Mind and Enterprise, per Surfer's help center and pricing table. Discovery and Standard have Content Audit instead, which is a separate tool that needs Google Search Console and scores your top pages rather than benchmarking one page against competitors.

Does Surfer SEO have a free trial?

Surfer's pricing FAQ says new accounts get a 7-day free trial of the Pro plan, which covers AI visibility, Content Audit, keyword research and AI writing. After the trial you choose a paid plan. Upgrades take effect at once and are prorated; downgrades wait until the next billing date.

Plan prices, savings, seats and feature placement were read from surferseo.com/pricing/ and its comparison table, and billing rules from docs.surferseo.com article 7545943, on 21 September 2026. The Audit plan list comes from docs.surferseo.com article 5700351. Per-seat costs are the plan price divided by the seat count. Vendor prices change. If yours differs, trust the checkout.
