Moz Pro to SE Ranking migration costs, what transfers and what you lose for good

Moving from Moz Pro to SE Ranking costs about $228 for the overlap month, then $129 a month on Core against the $99 you were paying for Moz Pro Standard. SE Ranking migrates your projects and keywords free if you take an annual subscription, which is $1,238.40 charged up front. What never transfers is Domain Authority and your rank history.

Every price here came from each vendor's own pricing page on 22 September 2026. SE Ranking shows different currencies by region, so we requested its subscription page from a United States address to get the dollar figures a US buyer sees at checkout. We sell an on-page SEO tool, which is worth knowing when you read what we conclude.

If the reason you are considering a switch is that pages keep getting flagged and nobody has time to rewrite them, a tracker change will not fix that. Run one of those pages through an audit that writes the correction first, then decide which tracker to pay for.

What a Moz Pro to SE Ranking migration actually costs

The subscription delta is the smallest line on this list, which is why people get the budget wrong. Here is the whole bill.

The six costs of moving from Moz Pro to SE Ranking, what each one is, and what it comes to
Cost What it is What it comes to
The overlap month You keep Moz running while you rebuild projects in SE Ranking Moz Standard $99 plus SE Ranking Core $129 = $228 for one month
The annual commitment Free migration is tied to an annual SE Ranking subscription $103.20 a month means $1,238.40 charged up front
The seats you add Moz includes 1 user on Standard, SE Ranking 1 on Core Moz $49 per extra seat, SE Ranking from $16
The reports you rebuild Client-facing reports and dashboards are re-templated by hand Half a day to two days of somebody's time, per client
The thresholds you rewrite Any rule written around Domain Authority needs a new metric Outreach filters, prospect lists, pitch decks and QA checklists
The history you restart Rank history and link scores do not move between vendors Year-over-year comparisons begin again on the new tool

The overlap month is the one people forget to ask finance for. You cannot rebuild projects, re-import keyword lists and re-template client reports on a platform you have already cancelled, so both subscriptions run together for a cycle. At the entry tiers that is $228. If you are moving an agency with the Agency Pack and a few extra seats, it is comfortably north of $400 for that month. Since the whole point of the move is usually to spend less, it is worth putting the overlap and the annual charge on whatever tracks the company card before the renewal lands, because a spend management platform with budget alerts will flag the old subscription rolling over long before the accountant notices it in the quarter.

What transfers, and what does not

Keywords, projects, competitors and site lists all move. Both platforms export CSV, and SE Ranking advertises free migration with an annual subscription, which in practice means their team sets your projects up rather than you retyping them. Report layouts do not move, so anything client-facing gets rebuilt in the new report builder. SE Ranking gives 10 report templates on Core and 30 on Growth.

Two things do not transfer at any price. The first is Domain Authority. DA and Page Authority are computed from Moz's own link index, and no competitor can produce the same number, because it is not a standard measurement. SE Ranking has its own authority scoring from its own crawl. If your outreach filters say "DA 30 and above", your prospect sheets are sorted by DA, or your pitch deck quotes a client's DA going from 22 to 41, every one of those has to be rewritten against a different scale. That is the hidden work of this migration and it usually lands on the person who least wants it.

The second is rank history. Positions collected by Moz stay in Moz. The new tracker starts counting on day one, so the twelve-month trend line you show clients resets. There is a practical workaround: export the full Moz rank history to CSV before you cancel and keep it somewhere you can join to the new data later. Do it while the subscription is still active, because the export goes away with the account.

The prices most comparison pages are still quoting are wrong

This is worth a section because it will change your budget. Search for this migration and page one is mostly auto-generated software-directory pages. Almost all of them say SE Ranking starts at $44 or $65 a month on the Essential plan, and several add capacity figures like "500 keywords against 50" or "5 projects against 1".

SE Ranking restructured its tiers. The plans it sells now are Core, Growth and Enterprise. On our read of seranking.com/subscription.html on 22 September 2026, the word "Essential" appeared zero times on the page. Core is $129 a month with 2,000 keywords tracked daily across 10 projects. So a buyer planning from those comparison pages is budgeting about a third of the real cost and comparing limits that describe neither product. The full current ladder for both vendors is on our SE Ranking vs Moz Pro comparison.

The seat price is what usually decides it

Moz Pro Standard includes one user and charges $49 a month for each extra seat. SE Ranking Core includes one manager seat and charges from $16. For one person, Moz is $30 a month cheaper. For three people, Moz Standard plus two seats is $197 and SE Ranking Core plus two seats is around $161. The cheaper vendor flips at the second login, and nothing on either pricing page makes that obvious.

Refresh rate is the other number worth pricing. Moz Standard tracks 300 keywords and refreshes them weekly, roughly 1,300 position checks a month. SE Ranking Core tracks 2,000 daily, about 60,000. If you are watching a site migration or a Google update land, weekly data is a week late. If you report positions to a client every Monday, weekly is all you need and you are paying $30 a month for a refresh rate you will not look at.

When the migration is not worth doing

Three cases where staying put is the better call. If one person manages one website, Moz's entry-level plan at $49 a month covers it and nothing on SE Ranking comes close at that price. If Domain Authority is genuinely embedded in how you sell, the rewrite cost exceeds a year of the price difference. And if you are switching because rankings are flat, a new tracker measures the same flat rankings more often.

That last one is the common case. Both tools are measurement products. They will tell you accurately which pages slipped, which titles are too long and which keywords fell out of the top ten, and then they wait for someone to do the work. Moz Standard includes 2 AI Content Briefs a month; SE Ranking Core includes 25 Content Marketing articles. Neither writes the corrected title, meta description and headings for a live page against its target keyword.

That step is what we sell, and it costs $49 a month on Starter with unlimited page audits and 20 drafts a month. Paste a URL and the keyword it should rank for and you get a score, every issue with the evidence behind it, then the rewritten title, meta description, heading outline and opening paragraph. It tracks rankings for the pages you fix and crawls a whole site up to the page limit of your plan, but it has no backlink index, so it does not replace either vendor. Moz Standard at $99 plus SEOMake Starter at $49 is $148 a month and covers both the measuring and the writing, which is less than SE Ranking Growth on its own.

Questions people ask before they switch

How much does it cost to switch from Moz Pro to SE Ranking?

The subscription difference is $30 a month at the entry tier: Moz Pro Standard is $99 and SE Ranking Core is $129, on prices read 22 September 2026. The real cost is the overlap month where both run, about $228, plus the annual charge of $1,238.40 up front if you take SE Ranking's free migration offer.

Does SE Ranking migrate my data from Moz for free?

SE Ranking's subscription page advertises free migration with an annual subscription. That covers setting up your projects and keyword lists on the new platform. It does not recreate rank history, backlink scores or anything proprietary to Moz, because no vendor can reproduce another vendor's index.

What do I lose by leaving Moz Pro?

Domain Authority and Page Authority, permanently. They are Moz metrics computed from Moz's own link index, and no other tool can supply them. You also lose your rank history in Moz, so any year-over-year chart restarts. Keywords, projects and report layouts are recreatable; the metrics and the history are not.

Is SE Ranking cheaper than Moz Pro?

Not at the entry tier any more. SE Ranking Core is $129 a month and Moz Pro Standard is $99, and Moz mentions an entry plan at $49 for a single site. SE Ranking becomes the cheaper option from the second seat onwards, because extra seats start at $16 against Moz's $49 per seat.

Does SE Ranking still sell the Essential plan?

No. SE Ranking now sells Core, Growth and Enterprise. On our 22 September 2026 read of seranking.com/subscription.html, the word "Essential" did not appear anywhere on the page. Most comparison articles still quote Essential at $44 to $65, so budgets built from them come out at roughly a third of the real price.

How long does an SEO tool migration take?

Plan on one billing cycle. Exporting keywords and projects to CSV and re-importing them is an afternoon. What takes the rest of the month is rebuilding client report templates, re-pointing anything that consumed the old API, and letting the new tracker collect enough days of data to be worth showing a client.

Should I switch from Moz Pro to SE Ranking?

Switch if you track more than about 400 keywords, run more than three sites, need daily rather than weekly refreshes, or have more than one person needing a login. Stay on Moz if Domain Authority is written into your reporting, your keyword list is short, or one person manages one site on the $49 entry plan.

Can I run SE Ranking and Moz Pro at the same time?

Yes, and most teams do for a month while the new tool builds up history. Budget for both subscriptions in that cycle, about $228 at the entry tiers, and set a calendar reminder for the Moz renewal date so the old subscription does not quietly roll over for another year after you have moved.

SE Ranking plans, limits and add-on prices were read from seranking.com/subscription.html on 22 September 2026, requested from a United States address so the page served US dollars. Moz Pro plans, limits and tooltips were read from moz.com/products/pro/pricing the same day. Team-cost figures combine those published rates. Vendor prices change without notice, so trust the checkout over this page. If you are weighing other options first, see our Moz alternative comparison and SE Ranking alternative breakdown.
