01 / MEASURE, THEN FIX

AI visibility tracker and AI visibility tools that track LLM visibility in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini

A tracker tells you that ChatGPT recommends someone else. It does not tell you why, and it cannot fix the page. Start with the page: paste a URL and Seomake reads it the way an answer engine does, then writes the parts that decide whether you get quoted.

No account. No card. Real output in about 20 seconds.

02 / The short answer

What an AI visibility tracker actually does

An AI visibility tracker runs a fixed list of buyer prompts through AI assistants on a schedule and records whether your brand is mentioned, cited with a link, or replaced by a competitor. It is sampling rather than analytics. There is no Search Console for ChatGPT, so these tools ask the questions on your behalf, log every answer, and turn the pattern into a score you can watch move.

That distinction matters when you are deciding what to buy. A tracker is a measurement instrument, and measurement alone has never moved a ranking. It reports that you are absent from the answer to a question worth money. Closing that gap is on-page work: rank in the top 10 for the query, then structure the page so the passage can be lifted and attributed to you.

03 / The metrics

The six metrics every AI visibility tool reports

Vendors use different names for the same handful of measurements. Once you can map a dashboard onto these six rows, the comparison gets much easier.

Metric What it measures Why a buyer should care
Mention rate The share of tracked prompts where your brand name appears anywhere in the answer. The blunt presence check. Zero mentions on a buying question means you are not in the consideration set at all.
Citation rate How often the answer links your domain as a source, not just names you. A citation sends traffic and compounds. A mention without a link is brand awareness you cannot measure in analytics.
Share of voice Your mentions as a percentage of all brands named across the same prompt set. The only number that survives a rising tide. Absolute mentions climb as AI usage grows even when you are losing ground.
Sentiment Whether the model describes you favorably, neutrally or with a caveat attached. Being named as the expensive option is a different problem from being invisible, and it needs a different fix.
Prompt coverage How many distinct questions the tool asks per billing period. This is what you are really buying. Prompt count drives price far more than engine count does.
Position in the answer Whether you lead the response or appear in a trailing list of alternatives. First named is the recommendation. Fifth in a list is a footnote most readers never reach.

One caveat worth knowing before you compare scores. Answers are non-deterministic, so the same prompt can name different brands on two consecutive runs. Treat a single reading as noise and a month of readings as a trend.

04 / The tools

AI visibility tools compared, with real prices

Public list prices taken from each vendor's own pricing page in July 2026. They change often, so check before you buy. Seomake is in the table for completeness, and the row is honest about what it is not.

Tool What it tracks Entry price, July 2026 Best for
Profound Prompt-level tracking across up to 9 answer engines, competitor share of voice, agent analytics Starter $99/mo billed yearly (ChatGPT only, 50 prompts); Growth $399/mo (3 engines, 100 prompts) Enterprise teams that need SSO, SAML and SOC 2
Otterly.AI ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot; brand mentions, links and sentiment Lite $29/mo (15 prompts); Standard $189/mo (100 prompts); Premium $489/mo (400 prompts) The cheapest honest way to start tracking
Peec AI Prompt tracking with competitor benchmarking, aimed at SaaS and ecommerce marketing teams Published on peec.ai; reported figures vary, so check the current list price Teams that want AI share of voice as a KPI
Ahrefs Brand Radar Brand and competitor mentions across LLM prompts, inside the existing Ahrefs toolset Included from Lite €119/mo; standalone Brand Radar AI from €179/mo Anyone already paying for Ahrefs
Semrush AI visibility reporting bundled into the main subscription alongside classic rank tracking Included on Starter $165.17/mo, Pro+ $248.17/mo and Advanced $455.67/mo, billed annually Anyone already paying for Semrush
Seomake Not a prompt monitor. Audits the page an engine would read, writes the fix, tracks the organic ranking underneath it Starter $49/mo, or $24/mo billed yearly, unlimited audits Fixing the pages a tracker says are invisible

Two things stand out when you line them up. First, engine coverage is often an upsell: several vendors charge separately for Claude, Gemini or Google AI Mode on top of the base plan, so the sticker price is rarely the real one. Second, if you already pay for Ahrefs or Semrush, you probably own a version of this feature already. Use it for a month before adding a second subscription.

For the wider toolset question, the best SEO tools comparison covers the classic audit and rank-tracking stack, and the Semrush alternative page goes line by line on what a full suite actually costs.

05 / Where we fit

Seomake is not a prompt-monitoring dashboard

Worth saying plainly, because the category is noisy. Seomake does not poll ChatGPT every morning with 100 prompts and draw you a share-of-voice chart. The tools above do that, and several do it well.

What Seomake does is the half that comes after the chart. It fetches the live page, reads it the way an extractor does, and reports what is missing: the self-contained answer near the top, the question used verbatim as a heading, the table an engine can lift, the schema that attributes the passage to you, the honest date. Then it writes the corrected version and tracks the organic ranking underneath, because a page outside the top 10 is very unlikely to be cited at all.

The two are complements, not rivals. Run a tracker to learn which questions you lose. Run an audit to find out why, and to get the rewrite that changes it. If you only have budget for one this quarter, buy the one that changes the page, because a measurement you cannot act on is a report you will stop opening by March.

The answer up top

The first 40 to 60 words under a heading have to stand alone. An engine cannot quote a sentence that only makes sense after three paragraphs of setup.

Questions as headings

The buyer question, verbatim, as an H2. Matching a query to a passage starts with matching the heading.

Structure that survives extraction

Tables, definitions and short labelled rows come through an answer box intact. Long prose does not, however good it is.

A date the page has earned

Freshness is one of the strongest citation signals, and the strongest of all on ChatGPT. An undated page reads as stale.

Open doors for AI crawlers

GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended need to be allowed in robots.txt. Blocking them loses every engine at once.

The ranking underneath

About 92% of cited pages already rank top 10. Ranking is the entry ticket, so classic on-page work is still the first move.

06 / Do it yourself first

How to track AI visibility before you pay for anything

A spreadsheet and an hour a month gets you most of what an entry plan reports. Do this before you buy, so you know what you are buying and whether the number is worth tracking at all.

  1. STEP 1

    Write the ten buying questions

Not your brand name. The questions a buyer asks before they know you exist, like "best invoice OCR for accountants". Brand-name prompts flatter you and predict nothing.

  2. STEP 2

Ask each engine from a clean session

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, logged out or in a temporary chat. Memory and history will quietly feed your own brand back to you and ruin the reading.

  3. STEP 3

Log mention, link and who won

Three columns per prompt per engine. The competitor column is the useful one: it tells you which page you have to out-answer, by name.

  4. STEP 4

    Repeat monthly and watch referrals

Same prompts, same wording, same day of the month. Then check analytics for traffic from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai and gemini.google.com to confirm citations turned into visits.

When that sheet shows a question you keep losing, the next step is the page, not a bigger plan. The answer engine optimization playbook covers the format layer, generative engine optimization goes deeper on AI chat specifically, and rank tracking watches the organic position that citation depends on.

07 / Asked and answered

AI visibility tracking, question by question

What is AI visibility?

AI visibility is how often and how prominently a brand appears inside answers generated by AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. It replaces the ranking position as the unit of measurement, because an answer engine returns one synthesized response instead of a page of links.

What is an AI visibility score?

An AI visibility score is a vendor-specific index, usually 0 to 100, that combines how often your brand is mentioned across a set of tracked prompts, how often you are cited with a link, and how you compare against rivals. There is no industry standard, so two tools will give the same brand different scores.

What is AI visibility tracking?

AI visibility tracking is the practice of running a fixed list of buyer prompts through AI assistants on a schedule and recording whether your brand appears, whether it is linked, and who is named instead. It is sampling, not analytics: the tool asks the questions for you and logs the answers over time.

How do you check AI visibility of a website?

Write down the ten questions a buyer would ask before choosing your product, ask each one in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, and record whether you are mentioned, linked, or absent. Repeat monthly from a clean session. A tracker automates that loop and adds competitor share, but the manual version costs nothing and tells you the same thing.

What are the best AI visibility tools?

Profound, Otterly.AI, Peec AI and Promptwatch are dedicated trackers, while Ahrefs Brand Radar and Semrush bundle AI visibility into an existing SEO subscription. The right one depends on how many prompts and engines you need. If you already pay for Ahrefs or Semrush, start with the bundled feature before buying a second tool.

How much does an AI visibility tracker cost?

Entry pricing runs from about $29 per month for 15 tracked prompts up to $399 per month for broader engine coverage, checked July 2026. Cost scales with prompts tracked and engines covered, and several vendors charge extra per additional engine, so compare the total for the prompt count you actually need.

Is AI visibility tracking worth it?

It is worth it once you have something to change. A tracker tells you that you are absent from an answer, not why, and the fix is almost always on the page: rank in the top 10 first, then make the answer extractable. Buy the tracker when you have a team ready to act on what it reports.

Does AI visibility replace SEO rankings?

No, it sits on top of them. Roughly 92% of pages cited in AI answers already rank in the top 10 for the query, so organic ranking is the entry ticket to being cited at all. Treat AI visibility as a second scoreboard for the same work, not a separate channel with separate content.
