Content refresh services pricing compared with refresh software, cost per post for 10, 30 and 100 pages

Content refresh services charge $40 to $900 per post. The Hoth is the low end at $40 to $125 by word count, 8Bit Content's monthly bundles work out to about $117 to $125 a page, and Content Estate charges $550 to $900. Refresh software costs $49 to $149 a month for 20 to 100 drafted pages, but someone on your team still edits and publishes, and that time is the real comparison.

We read every price below from the vendors' own pages on 5 October 2026, from a US connection. The pages ranking for this query are each one vendor's rate card or a general guide to writing rates, so nobody has put the options side by side or priced a real batch of posts. We sell refresh software, which is a bias worth knowing about, so the table also shows where a service is the better buy.

If you already know which page slipped, you can see what a software refresh looks like before reading on. Paste it with the query it used to rank for; it needs no account.

What content refresh services charge per post

Services price three different things, which is why quotes for the same job can differ by twenty times.

Per word. The Hoth sells a refresh at $40 for 500 words, $70 for 1,000, $95 for 1,500 and $125 for 2,000. That is a writer's rewrite to a length. Deciding which posts to refresh and what is wrong with them stays with you.

Per page, monthly. 8Bit Content sells two products. A content update report is $50 a page with a five-page minimum: a page-by-page plan of what to update, remove, rewrite or merge, which you then carry out. Done-for-you updates are $1,250 a month for 10 pages, $2,500 for 20 and $3,500 for 30, with a site content audit included.

Per strategic post. Content Estate charges $550 a post under 2,000 words, $700 under 3,000, and $900 for its Reach Accelerator, which adds an email, ten tweets, two threads and LinkedIn posts about the refreshed article. Independent B2B SaaS specialists sit in the same band, from about $400 a refresh and $300 for lighter on-page fixes.

The promotion piece in that top tier is worth pricing separately. Turning one refreshed article into a week of social posts is a well-defined job, and a content repurposing tool that turns one post into every channel does it for far less than the $200 gap between Content Estate's Launch and Reach tiers.

Content refresh services pricing for 10, 30 and 100 posts

A refresh project is never one post. Here is the bill for three common batch sizes, using each vendor's published price. The last row adds a hypothetical in-house editor at $50 an hour spending 90 minutes per post, which is the honest way to compare software with a service that does the writing.

Cost to refresh 10, 30 and 100 posts with The Hoth, 8Bit Content, a freelance specialist, Content Estate, SEOMake alone and SEOMake with an in-house editor
Route 10 posts 30 posts 100 posts
The Hoth, 1,500-word refresh $950 $2,850 $9,500
8Bit Content, done-for-you $1,250 $3,500 Custom quote
Freelance specialist, from $400 $4,000 $12,000 $40,000
Content Estate, Launch $7,000 $21,000 $70,000
SEOMake, software only $49 (Starter) $149 (Growth) $149 (Growth)
SEOMake plus editor at $75 a post $799 $2,399 $7,649

Two things stand out. First, The Hoth is close to software plus an editor: $95 a post against roughly $80. If your editor costs more than about $60 an hour, the per-word service is cheaper on paper. Second, the premium services are a different product. At $700 a post you are paying for strategy and a senior writer, and for 30 posts that is $21,000, seven to nine times either of the cheaper routes.

What the price difference actually buys

A refresh has three steps: deciding which pages to touch, working out why each one slipped, and writing the fix. Services and software split those steps differently.

The cheapest services do only the third step. You hand over a post and a word count, and the writer improves the prose. If the page slipped because searchers now want a comparison table, or because three competitors answer a question yours skips, a cleaner rewrite of the same outline does not fix it.

Software does the first two steps well and drafts the third. SEOMake fetches the live page, compares it with what ranks for the query today, shows the evidence for every issue, and writes the new title, meta description, heading outline, opening and the missing sections, up to a 400 to 700 word draft. It does not find the decaying pages for you; Google Search Console's Pages report does that for free. Our content refresh tool page compares it with Revive, Surfer, Clearscope and Frase.

The premium services do all three with judgment. That is what $550 to $900 buys, and for a handful of posts that drive real revenue it can be the right call.

When a content refresh service is the better buy

Pay a service when nobody on your team has the hours to edit, when the post needs original expertise you do not have in house (a tax change, a medical update, new interviews), or when the batch is small and the pages are your highest earners. A $900 refresh of a post that books ten demos a month pays for itself.

When refresh software is the better buy

Buy software when you have an editor, a backlog of 20 or more slipping posts, and pages whose problem is search intent and coverage rather than expertise. Comparison posts, pricing pages, buying guides and how-to posts usually fit. Agencies running quarterly refreshes across client blogs get the most from it, because audits are not tied to a site count; our page on SEO software for agencies prices the rest of that stack.

SEOMake costs $49 a month for 20 drafted refreshes, $149 for 100 and $499 for 500, with unlimited audits on every plan, or ten months' price for a year. See SEOMake pricing. If a post is past saving and needs rewriting from scratch, start from a brief with the SEO content brief generator instead.

Content refresh services pricing questions buyers ask

How much do content refresh services cost?

Published prices we read on 5 October 2026 run from $40 to $900 per post. The Hoth charges $40 for a 500-word refresh up to $125 for 2,000 words. 8Bit Content sells 10 page updates a month for $1,250. Content Estate charges $550 to $900 a post, and independent specialists start around $300 to $400 a page.

Is it cheaper to refresh content or write new content?

Usually refreshing, per result. A refresh keeps the URL, its backlinks and its ranking history, so a page that slipped from position 3 to 12 often recovers in weeks. A new post on the same topic starts with none of that. The writing cost per word is similar; the payoff from a refresh is faster and more predictable.

Should I hire a content refresh agency or use software?

Use software if someone on your team can edit and publish, because it costs a few dollars a page instead of $95 to $900. Hire a service if nobody has the hours, or if the post needs original reporting, new interviews or subject expertise you do not have in house. Many teams use software to triage and outsource only the hardest posts.

What does a content refresh service include?

It varies a lot. A per-word service like The Hoth rewrites the text to a word count. Mid-range services add a page-by-page action plan; 8Bit sells that report alone at $50 a page. Premium services such as Content Estate add strategy, internal and external linking, an optimization pass in a grading tool, and social posts to promote the refreshed article.

How many posts should I refresh a month?

Start with the pages that still get impressions but lost the most clicks in the last three to six months, and cap the first batch at what you can edit well. For a 200-post blog that might be 10 to 20 refreshes, which fits one Starter or Growth month of software or a $1,250 to $2,500 service bundle.

Service prices were read on 5 October 2026 from each vendor's published pricing in US dollars. The editor cost in the table is a worked assumption, not a measured figure. Vendor prices change without notice, so confirm with the vendor before you buy.
