Audit my page
01 / FOR LIVE PAGES

SEO content optimizer and content optimization tool that rewrites the pages you already have

Most content optimizers grade a draft while you type. SEOMake starts from a page you already published: paste the URL and the keyword it should win, and it returns a scored audit with the evidence for every gap, then writes the corrected title, meta description, heading outline, opening and the sections the page is missing. Unlimited audits on every plan, from $49 a month.

No account. No card. Real output in about 20 seconds.

02 / The short answer

An SEO content optimizer for existing pages should return the rewrite, because the score alone leaves the work with you

Surfer, Clearscope, Frase and PageOptimizer Pro grew up as writing editors. You open a document, they list the terms the top results use, and a score climbs as you add them. That is a good way to write a new post. It is a slow way to fix forty pages that are already live and stuck between positions 8 and 25.

For a live page the questions are different. Does the title lead with the query people type? Does the opening answer it? Which subtopics do the top five results cover that this page skips? Is the format right, or does page one now show tables where you have paragraphs? SEOMake answers those for one URL at a time and writes the fix: a title under 60 characters, a meta description at the length Google shows, a corrected outline, a new opening and, on paid plans, a 400 to 700 word draft of the missing material.

You still edit and publish. What you skip is the hour per page of working out what is wrong.

03 / What gets optimized

Six things the optimizer checks on a live page and rewrites when they fail

01

Title tag

Leads with the query as people type it, stays under about 60 characters and makes a specific promise. Rewritten when it buries the keyword or leads with the brand.

02

Meta description

Matches the intent and fits the snippet. Rewritten when it describes the company instead of the result the searcher wants.

03

Opening paragraph

Answers the query in the first two or three sentences. This is the passage AI Overviews and assistants quote, so it gets a direct rewrite.

04

Heading outline

One H1, a logical H2 and H3 order, and headings that use the questions searchers ask. Returned as a corrected outline.

05

Topic coverage

Subtopics the current top results share and your page skips, each with the competing pages that cover it. Drafted on paid plans.

06

Format and intent

Whether page one now favors comparisons, tables, steps or tools over essays. Flagged with what to change, because more words will not fix a format gap.

Every issue comes with the line of the page that caused it, so the fix list reads like an editor's notes.
04 / How it runs

How to optimize an existing page with SEOMake in four steps

  1. 01

    Pick the page

In Search Console, filter pages with impressions at an average position of 5 to 30. These are close enough that a better page moves them.

  2. 02

    Paste URL and keyword

Give SEOMake the URL and the query it should rank for. It fetches the live page and reads it the way a crawler does.

  3. 03

    Read the audit

A score, each issue with its evidence, the format the top results use and the subtopics they cover that you do not.

  4. 04

    Publish the fixes

Paste in the new title, meta, outline, opening and drafted sections, keep the URL, add the suggested internal links and request a recrawl.

If the page was ranking well and slid, the same workflow is described from the decay side on our content refresh tool page. If it is a short product or category page rather than an article, the on page SEO audit runs the same checks with a shorter rewrite.

05 / Content optimization tools compared

SEO content optimization tools compared on what they measure, who writes the fix and price

The category splits into editors that score a draft and tools that rewrite a live page. Both are useful. The table shows which job each one does, so you buy the one that matches your backlog.

SEO content optimization tools compared: Surfer, PageOptimizer Pro, Clearscope, Frase, Semrush SEO Writing Assistant and SEOMake on what they measure, who writes the changes, starting price and who each suits
Tool What it measures Who writes the fix Starts at Best for
Surfer Content score in an editor, terms to add as you type You do, guided by the score $59 a month, $49 billed yearly Writers drafting new posts at volume
PageOptimizer Pro On-page report against the top results, term counts You do, AI Writer on credits $40 a month (20 credits) SEOs who want granular term targets
Clearscope Content grade and term list in an editor You do, 20 AI drafts a month $129 a month Editorial teams with a style guide
Frase Content score plus audit pages Drafts articles from a quota $49 a month, $39 billed yearly One site, one writer
Semrush SEO Writing Assistant Readability, SEO and tone checks in Docs or WordPress You do, Smart Writer words on a quota $249.95 a month (Guru) Teams already paying for Semrush
SEOMake Scored audit of the live URL with evidence for each issue Yes, the new title, meta, outline, opening and missing sections $49 a month, unlimited audits Fixing pages that are already published

Prices read on each vendor's pricing page from a US connection on 6 October 2026, except the Semrush Writing Assistant plan gate, read in Semrush's knowledge base on 18 September 2026. Surfer's page stores its prices in US dollars and showed our connection the same numerals with a euro sign. Surfer Discovery includes 120 documents to create or optimize; PageOptimizer Pro Unlimited is $72 a month, or $62 billed yearly, for unlimited reports. Where a competitor wins is plain: Surfer is far cheaper per document if you will do the writing, and Clearscope's editor is the one most editorial teams already know. 06 / Why a score is not enough

Content optimization software that only counts terms misses why a page sits on page two

Term coverage is one input. Google ranks pages on whether they satisfy the query, and on a live page the usual blockers are not missing words. They are a title that does not match what people type, an opening that takes four paragraphs to get to the point, an essay where searchers now expect a comparison table, or a pricing section that has been wrong for a year.

Those are the issues SEOMake looks for first, and each one comes with the evidence: the line on your page, the pattern on page one, and what to write instead. Term gaps still appear, as a list of subtopics the top results share, so you are adding sections people want rather than sprinkling phrases into existing paragraphs.

The other gain is in AI answers. Assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity lift self-contained passages, so a direct opening and clean question headings make a page easier to cite. Our answer engine optimization page covers that side in more depth.

07 / Who optimizes with it
Small agency team reviewing a grid of client websites together

Who buys a content optimizer for pages that are already published

Agencies

Monthly on-page work across client sites. Audits are not tied to a site count, so a new client adds no tool cost. See SEO software for agencies.

B2B SaaS marketers

Feature, integration and comparison pages that rank 8 to 20 and drive demos. Each one is worth an hour of fixing; the tool cuts that to minutes.

Ecommerce teams

Category intros and buying guides that grew stale. The rewrite brings back the questions shoppers search before they buy.

Small business owners

A services site with ten pages and no writer. Starter covers a page a working day for $49; SEO software for small business compares the alternatives.

08 / What a page costs

What one optimized page costs on each plan

Divide the monthly price by what the plan includes and the ranking changes. Surfer Discovery is the cheapest per document at about 49 cents, because 120 documents come with it. Clearscope's 20 drafts work out to $6.45 each, and Frase Starter's 10 articles to $4.90.

None of those figures include the writing, which on a scoring editor is still yours. SEOMake's $2.45 per drafted page on Starter buys the analysis and the rewrite of the parts that are wrong; audits beyond the 20 drafts stay unlimited. We worked through 10, 30 and 100 page batches in SEO content optimization tools cost per page.

Plans are Starter $49 a month with 20 drafts, Growth $149 with 100 and Agency $499 with 500, or ten months' price for a year. Full details on SEOMake pricing.

09 / What it does not do

Where SEOMake stops and an editor or another tool takes over

No live score while you type

If your writers want a number that moves as they draft a new post, Surfer or Clearscope is the better fit. SEOMake audits a published URL and hands back the fixes.

It publishes only the approved title and meta

On WordPress and Shopify an approved title and meta description can be published from SEOMake and undone in one click. Outline, opening and drafted sections come back ready to paste, because an editor should place body copy on a page that already earns traffic. See AI SEO tools for WordPress.

The draft covers the gaps

Drafts run 400 to 700 words of missing material, not a full new article. To write a post from zero, start with the SEO content brief generator.

10 / Asked and answered

Content optimization tool questions buyers ask before they pick one

What is a content optimization tool?

A content optimization tool compares a page with the results that rank for its keyword and tells you what to change so it can compete. Most tools show a score and a list of terms to add inside an editor. Some, like SEOMake, go further on existing pages and write the corrected title, meta description, outline and missing sections for you.

What is the best SEO content optimizer?

For drafting new posts in an editor, Surfer and Clearscope are the established picks, and PageOptimizer Pro suits SEOs who want precise term counts. For fixing pages that are already live, the best optimizer is the one that hands back the rewrite rather than a score. SEOMake is built for that job at $49 a month with unlimited audits.

How does a content optimizer work?

It fetches the pages that rank for your keyword, extracts the topics, terms, headings and formats they share, and measures your page against them. Editors turn that into a live score. SEOMake turns it into an audit with the evidence behind each issue and a rewrite you can paste in.

How do you optimize existing content for SEO?

Start with pages that already get impressions but sit between positions 5 and 30. For each, match the title and opening to the exact query, add the subtopics the current top results cover and you do not, fix the heading outline, update stale facts and add internal links from related pages. Keep the URL so the page keeps its history.

Can AI optimize content for SEO?

Yes, for the analysis and the first draft. AI is good at comparing a page with the top results and writing a sharper title, a tighter opening and the sections that are missing. A person should still check facts, voice and claims before publishing, because a ranking page carries your name.

How much does a content optimization tool cost?

Prices read on 6 October 2026 start at $40 a month for PageOptimizer Pro Basic, $49 for Frase Starter and SEOMake Starter, $59 for Surfer Discovery and $129 for Clearscope Essentials. Semrush's Writing Assistant needs the $249.95 Guru plan. Yearly billing cuts most of these by 15 to 20 percent.

Is a content score enough to rank?

No. A score measures term coverage against the current top results, which helps, but pages also rank on search intent, format, freshness, internal links and authority. A page can score 90 and still sit on page two if it answers the wrong question. That is why SEOMake shows the intent and format gaps, not only the missing words.

Does SEOMake work with WordPress, Shopify or Webflow?

It works with any public URL, whatever the CMS, because it reads the live page the way a crawler does. Fixes come back copy-paste ready, and on WordPress (Yoast SEO or Rank Math) and Shopify an approved title and meta description can be published straight from SEOMake, with a change log and one-click undo. Nothing goes live until someone approves it.

11 / Run it

Bring a page that ranks on page two. Leave with the fixes.

Paste a URL and the keyword it should win. SEOMake scores the page, shows the evidence for every gap, and writes the new title, meta description, outline and opening. No account, no card.
