Audit my page
01 / REWRITE, NOT REPORT

Content refresh tool and SEO content update tool that rewrites the pages losing clicks

Paste a page that used to rank and the query it should rank for. SEOMake compares it with what Google rewards for that query today, shows the evidence for each gap, and writes the new title, meta description, heading outline, opening paragraph and the sections the page is missing. Unlimited audits on every plan, from $49 a month.

No account. No card. Real output in about 20 seconds.

02 / The short answer

A content refresh tool should hand back the rewritten page, because finding the decay is the free part

Spotting which posts lost traffic takes ten minutes in Google Search Console, and Animalz Revive does it from GA4 at no cost. The expensive part is the rewrite: working out why a page slipped from position 3 to 14, then writing a title, introduction and new sections that match what searchers want now.

That rewrite is what SEOMake does. You bring the URL and its query. It returns a scored audit with the evidence behind every issue, a corrected title under 60 characters, a meta description at the length Google shows, a heading outline, a new opening and the subtopics competitors cover and you do not. Paid plans add a 400 to 700 word draft of the missing material.

A writer or refresh service charges $40 to $900 per post for the same step. On the Starter plan, 20 drafted refreshes a month cost $2.45 each, and audits are unlimited.

03 / Why the page slipped

Four reasons a ranking page decays, and what the refresh has to change for each

The intent moved

Page one now shows comparison tables where your post has an essay. The refresh changes the format, not just the words.

Competitors cover more

Newer pages answer three questions yours skips. SEOMake lists those missing subtopics and drafts them.

Facts went stale

Old prices, retired features, a year in the title. Readers bounce and the title stops earning clicks.

The title stopped winning the click

Same position, fewer clicks. A title that leads with the query and a specific promise usually fixes it fastest.

04 / How a refresh runs

How to refresh a decaying page with SEOMake in four steps

  1. 01

    Find the page

In Search Console, compare the last 3 months with the same months a year ago and sort pages by lost clicks. Keep the ones that still get impressions.

  2. 02

    Paste URL and query

Give SEOMake the page and the query it used to win. It fetches the live page and reads it the way a crawler does.

  3. 03

    Read the evidence

You get a score, every issue with the line of the page that caused it, and the topics the current top results cover that you do not.

  4. 04

    Publish the rewrite

Copy the new title, meta, outline, opening and drafted sections into your CMS, keep the URL, and request a recrawl.

Each refresh also proposes internal links from pages you already have, which matters more than people expect: a refreshed post that nothing links to waits weeks for a recrawl. If the page is a thin product or category page rather than a post, the on-page SEO audit covers the same checks with a shorter rewrite.

05 / Content refresh tools compared

Content refresh tools compared on detection, rewriting and price

Most teams use two tools: one that finds the decaying pages and one that helps fix them. The table separates the two jobs, because the market blurs them.

Content refresh tools compared: Animalz Revive, Surfer Content Audit, Clearscope, Frase and SEOMake on whether they find decaying pages, whether they write the rewrite, starting price and who each suits
Tool Finds decaying pages Writes the rewrite Starts at Best for
Animalz Revive Yes, from 12 months of GA4 traffic No Free Finding which posts slid, once a quarter
Surfer Content Audit Yes, 60 days of Search Console data for your top 100 pages Suggestions in the editor, you write $59 a month (Discovery) Teams already writing in Surfer
Clearscope Yes, monitors tracked pages (50 on Essentials) Content grade and a 20-draft quota, you edit $129 a month (50 pages) Editorial teams with a style guide
Frase Yes, Content Guard watches 10 pages on Starter Drafts a revision when a watched page slips $49 a month, $39 billed yearly One site, one writer
SEOMake No, you bring the URL Yes: title, meta, outline, intro, missing topics, draft $49 a month, unlimited audits Clearing a backlog of known decaying pages

Prices read on each vendor's pricing page from a US connection: Clearscope and Frase on 5 October 2026, Surfer on 21 September 2026, Revive's terms from its 2.0 launch post. Clearscope Business is $399 a month for 300 tracked pages; Frase Professional is $129, or $103 billed yearly. Full Surfer tiers are on our Surfer SEO audit page and Frase's on Frase alternatives.

06 / What one refresh costs

Content refresh services charge $40 to $900 a post, software a few dollars a page

A service is buying a writer's hours. The Hoth prices a refresh by length, $40 for 500 words up to $125 for 2,000. 8Bit Content sells monthly bundles that work out to $125 a page, and Content Estate charges $550 to $900 a post with strategy and promotion included.

Software is buying the analysis and the first draft, so somebody on your side still edits and publishes. That is the honest trade. If you have an editor and a list of 30 slipping posts, software is the cheaper route by a wide margin. If nobody on the team can write, a service is the only route that finishes.

We priced both routes post by post in content refresh services pricing compared with refresh software.

07 / Who refreshes with it

Who buys a content refresh tool instead of another writer

Agency content leads

Quarterly refresh retainers across many client blogs. Audits are unlimited and not tied to a site count, so a new client adds no cost. More on SEO software for agencies.

In-house SaaS marketers

Comparison and pricing posts go stale every time a competitor reprices. A refresh per page per quarter keeps them earning demos.

Ecommerce teams

Buying guides and category intros that slipped after a season. The rewrite brings back the product questions shoppers search now.

Founders with a blog

Twenty posts written in year one, half of them sliding. Starter covers a refresh a working day for $49.

08 / What it does not do

Where SEOMake stops and another tool takes over

It does not find the decay for you

SEOMake does not connect to Analytics or Search Console. Use Search Console's Pages report or Revive to build the list, then bring it here.

It publishes only what you approve

The new title and meta description go live only after someone approves them, through a WordPress (Yoast SEO or Rank Math) or Shopify connection, with every change logged and one click to undo. The body rewrite stays copy-paste ready, because an editor belongs in the loop on a ranking page. Setup is on the AI SEO tools for WordPress page.

The draft is a section, not the whole post

Drafts run 400 to 700 words: the missing material, not a full 3,000-word rewrite. For a full brief before writing from scratch, use the SEO content brief generator. For pages that never ranked well in the first place, see the SEO content optimizer.

Plans are Starter $49 a month with 20 drafts, Growth $149 with 100 and Agency $499 with 500, or ten months' price for a year. Audits are unlimited on all of them. See SEOMake pricing.

09 / Asked and answered

Content refresh questions buyers ask before they pick a tool

What is a content refresh tool?

A content refresh tool helps you update an existing page so it wins back rankings it has lost. Some tools only find the decaying pages from your traffic data, such as Animalz Revive. Others grade the page against what ranks now and suggest changes. SEOMake does the rewrite step: it writes the new title, meta description, outline, opening and missing sections.

What is the best content refresh tool?

It depends on the step you are stuck on. To find decaying posts, Google Search Console and Animalz Revive are free and enough. To watch a few top pages and get an alert with a draft revision, Frase Content Guard does that from $49 a month. To grade a draft while you write, Clearscope and Surfer are the established editors. To get the rewrite itself written for a list of pages you already know are slipping, SEOMake is built for that job at $49 a month.

How often should you refresh content?

Check your top traffic pages every three to six months and refresh any that lost clicks or positions over that window. Pages on fast-moving topics, such as software pricing, regulations or anything with a year in the title, usually need an update every six months. Evergreen guides can go a year between deep refreshes if the numbers hold.

Does refreshing old content help SEO?

Yes, when the refresh fixes why the page slipped. A page that kept its URL and links but fell behind on search intent, missing subtopics or outdated facts often recovers faster than a new page ranks, because it already has history. Changing only the date or a few words rarely moves anything, and Google can tell.

How do I find content that needs refreshing?

Open the Pages report in Google Search Console, compare the last three months with the same period a year earlier, and sort by lost clicks. Pages that still have impressions but dropped from positions 1 to 5 into 6 to 20 are the best candidates. Then paste each URL with its main query into SEOMake to get the rewrite.

Should I change the URL when I refresh a post?

No. Keep the URL so the page keeps its backlinks, internal links and ranking history. If the slug contains a year or a wrong keyword and you must change it, add a 301 redirect from the old URL. Update the visible content first, then the title and meta description, and request a recrawl in Search Console.

How much does a content refresh cost?

Services we priced on 5 October 2026 charge $40 to $125 a post at The Hoth depending on length, $125 a page on 8Bit Content's monthly plans and $550 to $900 a post at Content Estate. Software runs from free for detection to $49 to $399 a month for rewrite and grading tools, before your editor's time.

Is Google's Refresh Outdated Content tool a content refresh tool?

No. Google's Refresh Outdated Content tool asks Google to update or drop a search result for a page or image that no longer exists or has changed. It does not improve your content or rankings. A content refresh tool, in the SEO sense, helps you rewrite a live page so it ranks again.
