What happened to SEOprofiler, and what SEO software to buy instead

SEOprofiler shut down on 26 April 2022 according to reports across the SEO community, and it has not operated as an SEO platform since. The confusing part is that seoprofiler.com is still online. Checked on 5 September 2026, it returns a normal page with an HTTP 200 status, but what it serves is a directory of SEO tools, not the software. There is no login and nothing to subscribe to. If you are trying to replace it, the honest answer is that no single product covers what it bundled, and most people replacing it overpay by about $90 a month.

This is the second time I have written one of these, and the pattern repeats. A vendor goes quiet, the paying customers are the last to find out, and the search results fill up with review sites that never noticed. SEOprofiler has been dead for four years and is still listed as a live option on comparison pages that quote its old pricing.

Does seoprofiler.com still work?

The domain works. The product does not. That distinction is the whole reason this question keeps getting asked.

I resolved seoprofiler.com on 5 September 2026. It returns HTTP 200, serves a fully rendered page, and the page title reads "Directory of Search Engine Optimization Tools". There is no account area, no pricing table and no trial signup. A domain that returns a healthy page looks alive to any automated check, which is why directory sites and listicles keep carrying SEOprofiler as though it were still purchasable.

So if you arrived at the site, saw something load, and could not work out whether you were in the right place: you were not. The software is gone and the address was repurposed.

What did SEOprofiler actually do?

It was an all-in-one platform, which matters for what you buy next. SEOprofiler covered rank tracking, website audits, backlink monitoring, competitor research, page optimization and client reporting in a single subscription, at a price that undercut the big platforms considerably.

That bundle is the problem. Nothing on the market today sells all six at SEOprofiler's price point, because the two expensive components, a maintained backlink index and a ranking fetcher, cost real infrastructure money. The tools that survived either charge properly for them or do not offer them.

What should I buy instead of SEOprofiler?

Start by working out which parts you opened in the last month, because most people used two of the six. Here is what each part costs on its own today, with prices read from each vendor's own pricing page in the first week of September 2026.

The $90 mistake most people make

The reflex when a bundled tool dies is to buy another bundle. It feels like a like-for-like swap and it is rarely the cheapest correct answer.

Think about what you did in SEOprofiler on a normal Tuesday. For a lot of subscribers it was: open a page that is not ranking, look at what the audit flags, rewrite the title and the meta description, fix the headings, publish. That is page optimization. It was one tab of the product, and it is the tab that every surviving platform still hands back to you as homework. Semrush, Ahrefs and Moz will all tell you the title is too long. None of them writes the shorter one.

If that was your Tuesday, a $139 platform buys you five features you will not open in order to get back the one you did. That is the $90 gap, every month, indefinitely.

Rebuilding after the shutdown

Two practical notes for anyone doing this now rather than in 2022.

Your historical data is not coming back. There is no account system left to export from, so whichever tool you pick, the first month is your new baseline. Do not spend time hunting for a migration path; several tools advertised SEOprofiler imports at the time and none of them can reach the data now.

Your keyword list probably went with it. If SEOprofiler was where your target keywords lived, you are starting that from scratch too, and this is the point where people stall for weeks. It helps to separate the two jobs: generating candidate angles is a thinking problem, and running a structured session that turns one topic into dozens of angles gets you unstuck faster than staring at a keyword tool. Validating which of those angles anyone actually searches is the second job, and that is what a research subscription is for.

Then optimize the pages you already have before writing new ones. Most sites carrying a dead tool's legacy have thirty or forty published pages that were never finished properly, and those are cheaper wins than anything new. Is anything actually better than SEOprofiler?

For any individual job, yes, and it is not close. SEOprofiler stopped receiving updates in 2022. It has no coverage of AI search results, nothing for how Google reports Core Web Vitals today, and no support for the current Search Console API. Four years is a long time in this category. Any maintained tool in the table above beats it on data freshness before you compare a single feature.

The nostalgia is understandable, though. SEOprofiler was genuinely cheap for what it included, and nothing has replaced that specific value proposition. What replaced it is a more honest market where you buy the expensive parts from someone who can afford to maintain them, and the cheap parts from someone who charges cheap-part prices.
